CALL YOUR SENATORS TO MELT ICE!

I am sad and angry about the state of the U.S. I know I’m not alone in my feelings and many feel frustrated because they want to do something tangible to help, but don’t know what to do. Here is something tangible that you can do with immediate effect that takes less than 10 minutes:

Body Double and Call Your Senators With Me in this less than 3-minute video!

The House passed a DHS (ICE) funding bill and sent it to the Senate. The Senate has until January 30th to vote on this bill. Call your senators now to tell them to vote “no” on the DHS ICE funding bill.

Even if your senators are democrats, CALL. Even if you think your Republican Senators won’t listen, CALL. At the very least, you can tell future generations that you took action to try and stop this!

Call your senators with me by following these steps:

1.      Google “Who are my senators”

2.      Click on the U.S. Senate (.gov) link called “Contacting U.S. Senators”

3.      Click the drop-down menu to select the state you live in

4.      Your senators and their phone numbers appear.

5.      Get your script (see below) and call their phone numbers that are listed.

6.      After you dial, you will either get a voicemail box or a member of staff. The following script works for both options:

SCRIPT:
Hi, I’m a constituent of the senator’s and I would like to leave a comment for the senator. My name is [your first and last name] and I live at [give your address (or just your city/town)].

Here is my comment: I implore you to vote “no” to the “Fiscal Year 2026 DHS Bill.” If you vote to give a single dollar more to DHS, ICE, or CBP, it will tell your constituents that you approve and endorse the actions of ICE, specifically, the killings, abuses, and constitutional violations of people. Please think about how history will remember your decision and vote “no” to further funding DHS. I will remember your vote in the next election. Please vote “no” on the Fiscal Year 2026 DHS Bill. Thank you.

If you are speaking to a human member of staff, wait for them to respond before disconnecting the call. They may ask if you want a response and it’s up to you, but I always say “yes.”

*Disconnect the call*
